Zoey was an enigma, unlike any other dog, and in many ways, she was the perfect first pet. She could have gone by several different names – “Cat-Dog” for her shockingly un-doglike mannerisms, “Ballerina” for her slight frame, lady-like movements, yet hilariously clumsy nature, “Satellite” for her rabbit-like ears, always scanning her surroundings, even as she slept, or “Pretzel” for the way she would intertwine all 4 of her legs when she would lay down.
Silent and independent, she wasn’t your typical husky – often found curled up like a donut in her own corners of every room; she was not a cuddly dog and liked to keep to herself until she wanted something. You’d then be interrupted by her constant presence, staring you down until her desires were met, and if you ignored her, she’d paw at you until you acknowledged her.
Once outside, a whole other side of her personality came to life. She loved exploring everything around her, chasing squirrels and birds, and watching everything that moved around her. Whether she was strolling down the sidewalk or prancing through a yard, she would charm everyone around her with her big, brown eyes, goofy smile, and bright, energetic spirit.
We were blessed with her in our lives for nearly 13 years, and as her time on this Earth was coming to an end, she became even more gentle-hearted. In her final moments, she felt the warmth and love of her family surrounding her.
Her love for us never wavered, and we will carry her paw print in our hearts until we meet again.
