Skeena

Skeena, my beautiful calico girl, was rescued by VOKRA from a bad situation. I adopted her after she’d given birth to six adorable kittens who all found happy homes in pairs. When I took her home after her spay, I promised her she would never have to fear humans again and that she would forever have a safe and happy life. She enjoyed 8-and-a-half love-filled years with me, looking out her open, safely screened windows at the birds, squirrels and raccoons in the treetops of her little forest, smelling all the smells. She quickly grew a luxurious long coat and queenly ruff that she hadn’t had before, and I knew she was finally able to relax and blossom into the hothouse flower queen she was. She wore her heart on her paw – literally! I never tired of gazing at her beautiful calico markings and saying ‘how can you be so beautiful?’ How I wish we’d had another 8 years together, but I take joy in how happy her years with me were. I kept my bargain. I’m still heartbroken just over a month since losing her, but her peaceful, pain-free passing was the very best I could wish for, thanks to the incredible & compassionate earth-angel Dr. Midge and the Lifting Stars staff. Hagwil yaan (walk softly) Skeena. Always in my heart.
